Happy New Year Brian!

The word for this week is "renew". This is found in Isaiah 40:31:

31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.

The word "renew" here is the Hebrew word "chalap". Vine's Expository Dictionary says: to pass on, to pass away, change. I love that when I wait on Him, He changes my strength for His strength! "Strength" here is power, force, ability (according to Vine's). But I also was blessed to see that when I wait on Him, I can pass on my strength! I am in position to help others be strong, too! That is especially important for you as the head of your household! Your strength in difficult situations will bring calm, confidence and assurance to Kristine and Avery. They will know that they can rely on YOU because YOU are relying on God!

I should add that the phrase "They that wait upon" is the Hebrew word "qavah", which means (according to Strong's Concordance): to bind together, to expect, to wait for, to wait upon. The last meaning is one that I  really like. I not only expect Him to confirm His Word, and wait patiently to see it manifest, but I also wait ON Him! I spend time in His presence finding out how He wants things done,  just like "waitstaff" in a restaurant! That helps me put action to the Word! This song from Hillsong is an example of waiting on the Lord. It's called "I Will Bless You Lord":

Love and Shalom from the Swoveys!
