Hi Brian! 

The word for this week is "spectacle". It's found once in the New Testament in 1 Corinthians 4:9.

9 For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men. KJV

This is the Greek word "theatron". Strong's Concordance says: a place for public show, general audience-room, a show itself. Thayer's Greek Lexicon says: a theater, a place in which games and dramatic spectacles are exhibited, and public assemblies held. A public show. The Theological Dictionary of the New Testament says: a theater or amphitheater, audience, play or spectacle. Everything that we do in obedience to the Word of God, and the Spirit of God, is to point people to JESUS! We are told NOT to hide our LIGHT under a basket, but to so shine forth that people will look at us and see JESUS at work! Matthew 5:14-16 tells us this:

14 You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a peck measure, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men that they may see your moral excellence and your praiseworthy, noble, and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father Who is in heaven.

THIS is who we are and what He has called each of us to do! BE the LIGHT in our world! SHINE in a very dark world! How? By daring to be different! To live a life that others may not understand, but in obedience to the plans and purposes of God for us! We may appear too look like a 'side show' to some who do not understand, but we will bring GREAT joy in Heaven as the Spirit of God continues to work in and upon the hearts of people still searching! Our whole reason behind deciding to become a "spectacle" is so that all those we know will have clarity in making a decision on what they intend to do with JESUS! We portray REAL LIFE in the theatre of our New Life IN JESUS! People are busy watching you, Kristine and your lovely ladies! And they are seeing quite a Godly and successful SPECTACLE!
