Hi Brian!
The word for this week is "enticing". It's found in two places in the Bible.
1 Corinthians 2:4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: 5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. KJV
Colossians 2:1 For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh; 2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; 3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. 4 And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words. KJV
In the first example we have the Greek word "peithos". Strong's Concordance says persuasive. The Theological Dictionary says: persuasive words of wisdom, the persuasive art of wisdom. In the second example we have the Greek word "pithanologia". Strong's Concordance says: persuasive language. Thayer's Greek Lexicon says: speech adapted to persuade, discourse in which probable arguments are adduced (evidence or proof). What Paul was emphasizing in both of these examples is, as Jesus said in John 17:17, the Word of God is TRUTH. When we speak the Word of God, there is no need to try and convince someone or talk them into believing. The Word of God spoken has the power in itself to prove itself! Sometimes we put pressure on ourselves to try and convince people that the Word of God is true when simply speaking the Word is enough! Here is Mark 16:20 in the KJV and the Amplified Bible:
20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen. KJV20 And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord kept working with them and confirming the message by the attesting signs and miracles that closely accompanied [it]. Amen (so be it). When we keep it simple, and simply speak the Word of God, He will see to it that it produces what He intends it to! Speaking, confessing and proclaiming the Word over your beautiful daughters has produced wonderful things in their lives to far, and God has only begun to reveal all that He has for them to accomplish! It is so exciting to see them grow into all that He has for them! And you! Here is Hillsong UNITED with "Say The Word":
