This week we'll be looking at another of the "Jehovah" names for God. This one is "Jehovah-Tsidkenu" in the Hebrew. This is found in two verses in Jeremiah.
Jeremiah 23:6 In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE Lord OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. KJV
Jeremiah 33:16 In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The Lord our righteousness. KJV
Righteousness is the English translation. This comes from the Hebrew word "tsdeq". Strong's Concordance says: the right (natural, moral or legal); equity; prosperity. Brown-Driver-Briggs Hebrew Lexicon adds this: justice, rightness, what is just. Vine's Expository Dictionary also adds this: a legal term signifying justice in conformity to the legal corpus, the judicial process, of the king as judge, and to the Source of justice, God Himself. So His Covenant Name of Jehovah-Tsidkenu tells us that He has become to us the source of righteousness. When we see this in 2 Corinthians 5:21:
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. KJV
By virtue of the New Birth, we have already been MADE righteous, with His righteousness! We don't have to strive to BE righteous, we already are! Now we need to learn how to allow that righteousness to be evidenced from the inside out! Here is 2 Corinthians 5:21 in the Amplified Bible.
21 For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness]. AMP
Because we are members of His family, heirs of God and joint heirs with Jesus with the legal right to be in His presence because of our right-standing with Him (righteousness) then we can have boldness to spend time in His presence and expect His favor! WE ARE BLESSED! Here is Hillsong with an older song called "Inside Out":
Love and Shalom from the Swoveys!
