The word for this week is "finished". We see it in these Scripture references in the New Testament:
John 17:4 I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do. NKJV
Matt 13:53 Now it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these parables, that He departed from there. NKJV
Matt 19:1 Now it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these sayings, that He departed from Galilee and came to the region of Judea beyond the Jordan. NKJV
John 19:30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. NKJV
The first verse above contains the Greek word "teleioo". Strong's Concordance says: to accomplish; to consummate. Thayer's Greek Lexicon adds: to carry through completely; to bring to an end; to complete; to add what is lacking in order to render a thing full. The last three verses contain the Greek word "teleo". Strong's Concordance says: to end; to complete; to execute; to conclude; to discharge (as a debt).Thayer's Greek Lexicon adds: to fulfill; to do just as commanded. We know from John 5:19 that Jesus only did what He received from the Father:
19 So Jesus answered them by saying, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, the Son is able to do nothing of Himself (of His own accord); but He is able to do only what He sees the Father doing, for whatever the Father does is what the Son does in the same way [in His turn].
Jesus said what the Father told Him to say and He did what the Father told Him to do. He left nothing undone that He was sent here to do! When He declared from the cross that "It is finished!", He was declaring the fulfillment of the Old Covenant! Now whosoever will receive Him as Lord and personal Savior instantly becomes an heir of God and a joint heir with Jesus Himself (Romans 8:17). When we come to the Father in prayer, we now come on the basis of that New Covenant and in the Name that is now above every other name, the Name of Jesus! We also continue to pray for protection, provision and safety, health and well being, favor and anointing in every area of your lives. It IS finished and HE has provided. We love you all so much!
