Hi Brian!

It was so good to see you and Kristine and Avery! The word for this week is "aftermath". The Dictionary definition is: a consequence or result of an event. It USUALLY refers to the results of a disaster, but we're speaking today of the results of the Resurrection! John 1:12:

12 But as many as received Him, to them gave he the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His Name.

John 10:10:

10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).

John 20:31:

But these are written (recorded) in order that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ (the Anointed One), the Son of God, and that through believing and cleaving to and trusting and relying upon Him you may have life through (in) His Name [through Who He is].

1 John 5:11-13:

11 And this is that testimony (that evidence): God gave us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who possesses the Son has that life; he who does not possess the Son of God does not have that life. 13 I write this to you who believe in  (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) the Name of the Son of God, so that you may know [with settled and absolute  knowledge] that you [already] have life, yes, eternal life.

That word "life" in all of these verses is the Greek word "zoe", which means: absolute fullness of life (Thayer's Greek Lexicon), life in the absolute sense, life as God has it in Himself (Vine's Expository Dictionary). The same force of life that operated in Jesus that enabled Him to heal the sick, raise the dead, multiply the food to feed the thousands, walk on water, calm the seas and cast out demons is also IN US, as a RESULT of our receiving Jesus of Nazareth as Lord and Savior! Romans 8:2 says:

2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

THAT is part of living in the AFTERMATH of the Resurrection! Here is a song from the new CD by Hillsong United called Aftermath!

Love and Shalom from the Swoveys!
