Hi Brian!

It was so good to see you and Kristine and Avery! The word for this week is "aftermath". The Dictionary definition is: a consequence or result of an event. It USUALLY refers to the results of a disaster, but we're speaking today of the results of the Resurrection! John 1:12:

12 But as many as received Him, to them gave he the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His Name.

John 10:10:

10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).

John 20:31:

But these are written (recorded) in order that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ (the Anointed One), the Son of God, and that through believing and cleaving to and trusting and relying upon Him you may have life through (in) His Name [through Who He is].

1 John 5:11-13:

11 And this is that testimony (that evidence): God gave us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who possesses the Son has that life; he who does not possess the Son of God does not have that life. 13 I write this to you who believe in  (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) the Name of the Son of God, so that you may know [with settled and absolute  knowledge] that you [already] have life, yes, eternal life.

That word "life" in all of these verses is the Greek word "zoe", which means: absolute fullness of life (Thayer's Greek Lexicon), life in the absolute sense, life as God has it in Himself (Vine's Expository Dictionary). The same force of life that operated in Jesus that enabled Him to heal the sick, raise the dead, multiply the food to feed the thousands, walk on water, calm the seas and cast out demons is also IN US, as a RESULT of our receiving Jesus of Nazareth as Lord and Savior! Romans 8:2 says:

2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

THAT is part of living in the AFTERMATH of the Resurrection! Here is a song from the new CD by Hillsong United called Aftermath!

Hi Brian,

The word for this week is "servant". In the Old Testament it is most often the Hebrew word "`ebed", which means: slave, servant. The Vine's Expository Dictionary says this:

OT:5650
The "servant" was not a free man. He was subject to the will and command of his master. But one might willingly and lovingly submit to his master Ex 21:5, remaining in his service when he was not obliged to do so. Hence it is a very fitting description of the relationship of man to God.

In the New Testament it is the Greek word "doulos", which means: a slave, bondman, attendant, a man of servile condition, one who gives himself up wholly to another's will, devoted to another to the disregard of one's own interests. (from Thayer's Greek Lexicon).

We are free, as believers, to make the choice to become a servant of the Lord, submitting OUR will to HIS! There are great rewards for doing things God's way! But there is something more to be learned from that word! In Matthew 8:9-10 (KJV) we see this:

9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my servant, Do this, and he does it. 10 When Jesus heard it, He marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

The soldier had requested healing for his servant boy. Yet he had such confidence in the power and authority of Jesus, that he knew that Jesus needed only to speak and it would be done! He likened it to commanding his servant. So what he was really saying was that the faith, power, authority that Jesus possessed was the SERVANT of Jesus! The words He spoke HAD to come to pass! They HAD to be obedient to the Master! We have HIS authority to speak HIS Word into the earth today! When YOU speak God's Word into any situation in your family, you can EXPECT your words to be obeyed! They are YOUR servants! As you meditate on that I pray that God will confirm His Word and make it real to you!

Hi Brian!

The word for this week is "SALVATION". We know that because we have received Jesus of Nazareth as our Lord and personal Saviour, we have Heaven as our home when we leave this earth! But it means SO much more than that! Psalm 91:16:

16 With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation.

This is the Hebrew word: "yeshuw`ah", which is also the Hebrew Name of Jesus! It means: deliverance, aid, victory, prosperity, health, welfare according to Strong's Exhaustive Concordance. In the New Testament we have Acts 4:12:

12 And there is salvation in and through no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by and in which we must be saved.

This is the Greek word: "soteria", which means: rescue, safety, deliver, and health according to Strong's Exhaustive Concordance. It also means: preservation according to Thayer's Greek Lexicon. That pretty much covers all of our lives here on earth, as well as in Heaven! That salvation is part of our Covenant with God! Thank You, Jesus!

Here is another song from Hillsong called "Salvation Is Here":

Hi Brian!

The word for this week is going to be a Hebrew word! It is the word "Shalom". It's translated "peace" many times in the Bible, but it means so much more than that! Strong's concordance says that it means: safe, well, happy, friendly, welfare, health, prosperity and safety. The Brown-Driver-Briggs Hebrew Lexicon says: completeness, soundness, welfare, peace, safety, tranquility and contentment. Here is an article I found on it from Out Of Zion Ministries that is very good. I would have linked to it, but it's an older article that I couldn't find online.

The Hebrew word SHALOM is understood around the world to mean peace. But peace is only one small part of the meaning of the word SHALOM. Here in Israel, even though we don't have much in the way of peace, we use the word SHALOM on a daily basis. We use it to greet people with, and we use it to bid farewell to people. However, SHALOM means much more than peace, hello or goodbye.

Strong's Concordance 7965 - Hebrew Shalom ..... A word study in the New King James version for SHALOM says: Completeness, wholeness, health, peace, welfare, safety soundness, tranquility, prosperity, perfectness, fullness, rest, harmony, the absence of agitation or discord.

Shalom comes from the root verb Shalam meaning to be complete, perfect and full. In modern Hebrew the obviously related word Shelem means to pay for, and Shulam means to be fully paid.

Sar SHALOM (Prince of Peace) is one of the descriptive names the Bible uses to indicate the ministry and personality of the Messiah:
Isaiah 9:6 - The Son of God is completely perfect in all things.

So in essence, when you speak out the word SHALOM - you are not only proclaiming peace, but all the above meanings of the word over that person - that's a mighty blessing!!!

Remember what the word of God says - "there is life or death in the power of the tongue".

We recently heard someone on a Christian TV program say: "No wonder the Jewish people are so blessed, because every time they say Shalom to one another, they are also allowing the full meaning (see above) of SHALOM to be pronounced over them. He humorously proceeded to say that this greeting word would be much more beneficial to the American people if they greeted each other with SHALOM instead of their usual "Hi" or "Howdy" greeting. As Josie and I adapted to life in Israel, we adapted to the SHALOM habit over the "Hi" habit....As Messianic Jews, we are called to bless you and we take that very seriously, by praying for you and by greeting you with SHALOM. Therefore, from now on, when we or someone says SHALOM to you, you should receive it as a tremendous blessing. And bless them back with a hearty SHALOM!"

Numbers 6:24-26: The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. The Lord lift up His face upon you and give you SHALOM. In the name of SAR SHALOM - the Prince of Peace.

This song isn't specifically about Shalom, but it goes along with last week's word, "Compassion", and if we are truly wanting to bless others with "Shalom", it's an eye opener!
