Hi Brian!
The word for this week is "rooted". We find these two portions of Scripture in the New Testament:
Ephesians 3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. KJV
Colissians 2:6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: 7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. KJV
These are each the Greek word "rhizoo". Strong's Concordance says: to root, to become stable. Thayer's Greek Lexicon says: to cause to strike root, to strengthen with roots. Vine's Expository Dictionary says: in Christ, i. e., in the sense of being firmly planted, or established. In the Theological Dictionary of The New testament we have this: Colossians 2:7 and Ephesians 3:17 refer to the personal rootage of believers. In Christ they find life-giving soil and also their sustaining foundation ("rooted and built up"). The most powerful aspect of true Christianity is THIS! We are not simply following Jesus as His disciples did before His death, burial and resurrection! We have been born again by the Spirit of Almighty God recreating our previously dead human spirits into HIS image! We have been made PERECT in spirit, just like JESUS! Now it is up to us to renew our minds (Romans 12:2) so that we can think, speak and act like JESUS! Knowing ALWAYS that we can NEVER be removed from HIS hand! We are ROOTED in HIM! Those 'roots' go deeper than we can even yet understand! Knowing this should give us the powerful understanding that no matter what happens, HE is expecting us to pick ourselves up and keep moving TOWARD Him!
