Hi Brian!

The word for this week is "moment". There are three verses using three different Greek words in the New Testament. The first is found in Luke 4:5:

5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. KJV

This is the Greek word "stigme". Strong's Concordance says a point of time, i.e. an instant. Now this could be that it only took an instant to show Jesus all of these kingdoms or it could be that he was showing all of the kingdoms at a certain point in time, whether past, present or future. There are so many things in the Word that will be interesting to learn when we finally get to Heaven and are able to see how things actually played out! The next word is found in 1 Corinthians 15:51-52:

51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. KJV

This one is the Greek word "atomos". Strong's Concordance says: indivisible (an atom of time). Thayer's Greek Lexicon adds: that cannot be cut in two or divided. This is referring to our resurrection bodies that we will get at the Rapture of the Church! It will take just the smallest possible segment of time to change these mortal bodies into bodies that can walk through walls, move at the speed of thought, never change, decay or die! Bodies just like JESUS has now and revealed to His disciples when He appeared to them before He ascended up to Heaven to wait for that trumpet sound that will accompany Him as He appears for us in the sky! The last word is found in 2 Corinthians 4:17-18:

17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. KJV

This one is the Greek word "parautika". Strong's Concordance says: at the very instant. Thayer's Greek Lexicon adds: for the moment. Vine's Expository Dictionary says this: the meaning is not simply that of brief duration, but that which is present with us now or immediate, in contrast to the future glory. We know that some of the situations we have faced have changed quickly with prayer. Others have taken a little more time, and some we are still believing to see changed. The most exciting part of this verse is that, though we may be facing something right now, it is "temporal", which means 'subject to change'! Those things that we can see can be changed by the things that we can't see, which are the promises of the Word that we receive by faith. We speak the Word into the situation that we desire to have happen, calling those things which be not (yet) as though they were (Romans 4:17), and then they become! The things that we can see may be facts, but facts can ALWAYS be changed by the TRUTH (the Word -John 17:17)! We don't ever have to be satisfied with the way things are when the Word gives us a better promise. I LOVE the Word! Here is Hillsong United with "Say The Word":
