Happy Father's Day to one of the best fathers I know! The word for this week is "deep". We'll be looking at 1 Corinthians 2:9-10:
9 But as it is written, Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God has revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God. KJV
This is the Greek word "bathos". Strong's Concordance says: profundity (Dictionary: great depth or intensity of a state, quality or emotion); mystery. We see this same Greek word translated "depth" in Romans 8:33 and Ephesians 3:17-19:
33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! KJV
17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge, that you might be filled with all the fullness of God. KJV
The things of God, the promises of God, the Word of God are mysterious and unfathomable to the unbeliever! They cannot be understood by the intellect. 1 Corinthians 2:13 tells us this:
14 But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. KJV
So, because you ARE born again, with the Spirit of God living in you, you CAN understand all of the "deep" things of God. It takes a diligent commitment to do so, and YOU already know how to be diligent! As you use the same principles that have brought you success as a Buyer for Target and apply them to your study of the Word of God, YOU will gain understanding of the Word that you may never have thought possible! HE wants to spend time with you and to increase your capacity to see and hear more clearly than ever before! What a blessed life we have! :) Here is Hillsong Accoustic with "Sinking Deep":
Love and Shalom from the Swoveys!
